What is "observation" again?


Observation requires an “observed object” and an “observing subject”.

This is a relative relationship.

If quantum A or B becomes "object" or "subject", decoherence occurs between this AB, but the outside of it, which is not an object-subject relationship, remains in a coherent state.

Next, when the quantum AB is the "object" and the thing outside this becomes the "subject", decoherence occurs between the quantum AB and the thing outside, but the outside remains in a coherent state. .

Certainly, the subject of the act of "observation" may be a quantum or a device.

However, in order for the act of "observation" to have meaning, it is necessary for the observer to understand the results of the observation.

If quanta or machines were the subject of observations, we could store the results of observations, but that is different from understanding.

For example, even if quantum or equipment observes, it is only "consciousness" that sees (understands) the observation results.

The subject that can make meaningful "observations" is, after all, "consciousness."


In other words, the cause of decoherence is the "consciousness" within you.

However, "consciousness" does not create some kind of world.


Originally, the world is a "superimposed state".

The "consciousness" of life, which is the physical phenomenon inside it, is made so that it can only see one universe in terms of its function.

This is the point of view when such "limited consciousness" tries to see the "superimposed state" of the universe.

That is the essence of decoherence.
